Bon Iver and I spent all morning at the farmer’s market listening to the banjo boy, whose talent was an unexpected delight. While we listened, Bon Iver made a friendship bracelet from reeds, grasses and thin strips of bark he found. When the boy took the second of his scheduled 15-minute lemonade breaks, Bon Iver placed the bracelet in the boy’s overturned cap with a flourish. ‘I’ve been that boy, and I want him to know the banjo’s not his only friend,’ he said.

Bob: All right, we need to get these up before they get back. Your mom will be so excited to see this stuff, she won't even notice that I took Gayle's paintings down.

Bob: Why is he like that?
Gene: He's an albino.
Bob: Oh.
Gene: Yeah.
Bob: I've never met Ken. Is he real or imaginary?
Gene: He's real and he does improvised hip-hop.
Bob: Okay, how old is he?
Gene: He's 28.
Bob: You can't have a 28-year-old albino friend.
Gene: Yes I can!
Bob: All right, I can't deal with this, right now. Tina, what do you got?
Tina: [hands Bob her painting] It's our dentist.
Bob: Dr. Yap? Why is he nude? Wait, has he been nude with you, Tina?!
Tina: I exercised some artistic license.
Bob: Ugh... I... we're switching dentists.
Tina: [clutches painting] No!
Bob: I can't deal with that, right now.
